Apparently Azaleas are a sub-genus of rhododendron, being different by having smaller leaves. I had heard of both but knew little about their appearance. Coming in a large variety of colours I can see this flower being popular amongst those looking to create expressive floral collages.

I could joke that this is finally a flower I recognise, though not through my garden or me buying them, as the humble Forget Me Not can represent brotherly love, relief (charity), and truth, the three core principals of Freemasonry, my other major hobby. So will this ink be a shining beacon to me, or will I be charitable in looking through deficiencies.

Showing my lack of horticultural knowledge, when you mention sweet pea I think of country gardens of days gone by. Little did I know that the plant actually comes from Sicily. Perhaps my imagination is correct and the plant was brought over by young English gentlemen returning from their grand tours round Europe in the 1920s to take root over here in the UK.

For a number of religions this is a flower associated with the Gods, resulting in pictorial depictions of Lotus Thrones. An aquatic plant found across Asia, meaning alas what we get in the UK outside of botanical gardens is but a form of lily bred for a similar looking flower.

The chances are most if not all of us will have grown sunflowers as young kids, either at home or at school. For me I remember it being too early when I left for school and too late when I got back to see the flower heads point directly at the sun, changing position over time. Bit of a miss. However, will this ink be a hit for me.

I’ll admit it, until I went to look in to the petunia for this review I did not realise nature actually evolved flowers with near black petals. I can think of several reasons why and I suspect they glow white under an infra red light. As someone with negligible green finger knowledge I have been gaining a certain amount of horticultural knowledge while reviewing this ink set.

I will admit I am confused by the naming of this one. I have been open about lacking knowledge when it comes to plants and flowers, so I assumed dahlia would be green in colour, or at least some of the variants. I looked at 12 pages, some 220+ different plant options on the Royal Horticultural Society shop website, and yet the closest I could find was the Tsuki-yori-no-shisha below and that is probably a cream flower with the green being a reflection of the stem. Fortunately a further search showed me there were green ones out there, though not available for purchase in the UK. I did ask a friend who is a keen gardener and he mentioned dahlias do come in every colour bar blue, however the green ones tend to have very little contrast with the foliage around them.

As mentioned in my group review of this ink set, Cult Pens have gone out to create through Diamine a unique set of inks for this set. Now with buttercup we finally have a flower I know and can almost recognise. To me buttercups mean summers when I was young and farmers were more open to letting families use their fields for picnics.

From my group review of this ink set, and my write up of Orchid, I gave the impression that all of the Cult Pens Diamine Flower Inks Set inks are pastels. This is not so and here we have a bold colour to put me in my place. Now once more those of you of a horticultural bent may ask me what variant this ink is based on. I struggle to keep potted herbs alive, however a quick Google does show pictures of many Snap Dragon flowers of this sort of shade.

As mentioned in my group review of this ink set, Cult Pens have gone out to create through Diamine a unique set of inks for this set. Which variant of orchid this ink is based on I am not sure as there is a considerable range and confession time, I am not a horticultural person. What we have is a pastel pink with little out there to compete with.
