Normally I post at the start of a trip about where I’m hosting my travel/holiday pictures. It used to be WebShots, until they changed direction and effectively stopped hosting, then Photobucket, but that is slow and when they went to redo their pricing options it was beyond silly and plain greedy, so I now just have a very limited free account. I’ve still used it for this trip, but as I have to rotate photos out these may only stay in place for a year or two. I’ve not found a suitable alternative, that has sufficient space on a free account, allows a tree structure so I have have different albums per holiday and sub albums/folders for a level or two below, and don’t take/steel owenership. Answers on a postcard 😉 (Flickr, Imgur, Google Photos, FaceBook are all not suitable for various reasons). Continue reading
It was back to the Klementinum this morning, for an exhibition on the Narod Lodge and key moments in Freemasonry in The Czech Republic and Czechoslovakia at the gallery. This is open to the public, and while not large, is well done and rather interesting. Continue reading
I’ve been in two minds whether to do a post about today. Not because of any secretive stuff with connection to the Masonic part, but more because there’s little of interest to the traveler. Nite little, not none.
I went out for a walk to see a few places near by and to take some more photos, before heading back to the hotel and heading out again for an evening meal. It was then I bumped in to some people going to the same event as me tomorrow and staying at the same hotel. We agreed to meet in the hotel bar. I was then rung by someone I know better, who also was at the same hotel and the numbers grew.
My hotel is well placed for the normal tourist areas, though this also means it can be hard to move off the track and make back street discoveries. Continue reading
My hotel, Perla Hotel, is well appointed and comfortable (it was recommended to me). So post a large buffet style breakfast I’m now planning my day out. Looks, on paper at least, like there could be a fair bit of walking, and that’s without crossing the river (I might do Charles Bridge or I might leave that till Sunday when I may head over to the Castle and Cathedral.
More to follow, though photos will probably just be a link through to an online gallery (might not be Photobucket this time due to their changes).
I fancied some Czech food but was all too aware that many of the places around here are for tourists, regardless of their scores on TripAdvisor, so I pinged a friend I will be meeting up with on Saturday. Potrefena Husa was his response, a ‘gastro’ pub chain owned by the Staropramen brewery.
Well that was an easy flight. Took off on time, landed on time, quickly through the airport and simple travel to the Old City
I didn’t quite realise it had actually been five years since I last traveled, but finally I now start to write in the BA lounge at Heathrow while waiting for my target gate to open (which it is about to do) before I wander down to catch my flight to Prague.
