Right from the start Venvstas have taken a different view with the design direction of their pens, some times a little controversial as architectural and design directions have been taken rather than looking at usability. Over time the company has learnt and a few years back they launched the second generation of their piston filler pen. Here I get the chance to test it.

The Gravitas Quark fountain pen has been out for a while and as I have heard good things about it, when this Ultem® one unexpectedly arrived with my Dinkey who was I to object. It is presently it is the smallest pen (capped) in the Gravitas range, though for how long we shall see as we know Ben Walsh likes a design challenge.

The Nova Pocket Pen is the latest Kickstarter launched fountain pen by the Kirkcaldy based design company Namisu. Originally with titanium cap, body, and section, one of the stretch goals was for the cap and body to be made from Ultem®, with this also being a clipless version. Backers started to receive their pens at the start of June and mine arrived on the third of the month.

I’m not sure why but it has taken me over a year to start putting the allegorical pen to paper for this fountain pen. In some respects the delays are due to having others to review, pens more relevant to a lot of my audience, but now I have finally pulled me finger out but with something a little different for me. Rather than an overly long post on the pen and the background I have decided to split it into two, starting with the company and the ordering process, then a follow up a bit further down then line on the pen itself.

Ben Walsh loves designing new models and also seems to have a thing for pocket pens as he has just released his fourth, the Dinkey, following on from the Pocket Pen, the Pocket Dropper, and the Quark. Over the last few months a few have already become available in limited numbers and I have managed to get my hands on one to test.

For most of us Scriveiner Pens have been on our radar for the last few months due to their creations being reviewed on a number of high profile YouTube channels. As I documented in my article on the London Spring 2024 Fountain Pen Show, I caught up with them during a break in my trying to reduce my pen collection and had a decent chat. The result was the purchase of this pen.
