1st of January this year an earthquake hit Japan and Wajima City was very heavily affected. Amongst those building heavily damaged and destroyed are the workshops of Nakaya.
The official release from Nakaya reads:
We appreciate your concern and kind words in response to the disaster in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
As reported in the media, many buildings have been completely destroyed, and Nakaya’s production base is also in a devastating situation.
Therefore, we will stop accepting orders of lacquered products for the time being from today.
When we have a good prospect to resume accepting orders, we will notify you on our website.
We will contact you individually regarding products you have already ordered sequentially.With the warm support of everyone in the world, Nakaya has gradually increased the connection with craftsmen during this quarter century, but we will be starting from scratch again.
